Pueblo-Walsenburg Plains Overland

This route remains east of the Wet Mountains, but navigates through the west and east side of Interstate 25. It can include an overnight stay in Colorado City. Combined with the Overland Mountain, it becomes a multi-day bikepacking expedition across the southern Front Range. Leaving Pueblo you’ll travel Burnt Mill Road until South Crow Cutoff Road. Descending down to SH 165 into the Greenhorn Valley will transport you back in time. There are visible homes and ranches, but not much has changed from the time early humans visited the area. The first half of the ride slowly ascends in elevation, while the second half drops in and out of canyons of southeastern Colorado. Highlighting this challenging frontier pathway are
mesmerizing mountain and prairie views. Little pavement means you earn every dirt mile between Pueblo and Walsenburg into Huerfano County.
