Trapper's Scramble

The rugged terrain of western Pueblo County is a beacon for adventure seekers. This is a challenging route, and harks to the era of fur trappers scrambling through the woods. Starting off in Rye, you’ll climb and descend through the San Isabel National Forest to the town of Beulah.
Along the way, you’ll ride past the Pueblo Mountain Park, a city-owned park created in 1919. It holds a number of rustic style facilities constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration during the Great Depression. Beulah is a great stage stop to recharge for the return through Colorado City to Rye. Short mixes of paved and unpaved road are a relief after sections of rough technical gravel during the first half of the ride.
