Flying V Ramble

This ride begins in the small community of DeBeque. Founded in 1884, it’s named after Dr. Louis De Beque. As migration west increased, it became a popular stop for travelers on their way to California. The route explores the rugged and scenic eastern portion of Mesa County. V Road is 17 miles long with winding turns, short climbs and descents. This dirt road is a highlight of the ride. Collbran serves as a stage stop for water and snacks before and after the route travels into remote backcountry terrain. It’s a great multi-day bikepacking or bikefishing option. The route takes you in close proximity to some of the many lakes found in the Grand Mesa National Forest.
