Fruit of the Vine Gravel

A dirt friendly update to the classic Palisade Fruit and Vine Scenic Byway. Gravel sections include segments of the Old Spanish Trail, The Gunnison River Bluffs Trail, and James Robb Colorado State Park. The Old Spanish Trail is a double-track that follows the route forged by Dominguez and Escalante on their mission to connect Santa Fe, New Mexico and Monterey. California. The route starts with a section along the Colorado River bike path and a small section of gravel/concrete of the Palisade via River Bend Park. It’s a good mix of surfaces that offers cyclists access to Palisade’s fruit stands, vineyard tours, and tastings as you return to downtown Palisade. Remember to please not pick fruit off the trees and vines, and stay on designated routes to not spread pests from farm to farm.
